Landau

Landau.Formed in 1998, Landau was originally a union of four songwriter/ producers geared towards writing melodic electronic music. Their earliest influences included the 1990's Warp Scene, trip hop, drum & bass and western art music. The groups underlying goal and aesthetic has always been the seamless blend of acoustic and electronic sound. Landau's sound has often been compared to Plaid, Autechre, The Cinematic Orchestra, and Matmos amongst others.

Since it’s founding the band has undergone constant transformation under the influence of jazz, funk, dub and soul. The band has blossomed into several different projects that pay proper homage to these influences.

Album coverThe Landau Orchestra is a project that focuses towards a perfect blend of acoustic instruments (4 brass, 4 string, 2 wind) , piano and electronics. Landau now performs as an electro-acoustic quartet with an instrumentation that includes Acoustic Bass, Guitar, Rhodes, Accordion, Melodica, Drums, percussion, laptops, turntables and synths.

I play trombone on their recent Milan Records release, Janus Plays Telephone. I have also performed with the Landau Orchestra in Hartford and New York City, and, with the core members moving to Brooklyn soon, will hope fully continue to do so.
