Einstein's Dreams: Flight Manifest is out now!

The debut album from Einstein’s Dreams, Flight Manifest is now available on CD or digital download over at Bandcamp!

The album plays with themes of space travel, birds, and evolution, acting as a launch pad for flocks of woodwinds, stacks of brass, and entire landscapes full of stringed instruments.

Rochester’s City Magazine says: “Led by musician Eric Heveron-Smith (who plays about a dozen instruments), the band features contributions from vocalist Julia Weatherholtz, banjoist Benny Bleu, Mambo Kings’ Tony Padilla on congas and, frankly, too many other talented musicians to list here. The cumulative effect is palpable and striking — “Flight Manifest” is a highly considered document that remembers to have some fun in the arrangements. The looser moments, like on the exploratory “Don’t Go to Mars” and the breezy “Crane Song,” make an exceedingly pleasant listen. Heveron-Smith’s voice is smooth and gentle, pairing nicely with flugelhorn and yacht-friendly percussion. “Crane Song” could fit snugly on Nick Drake’s “Bryter Layter.” “Mount Aerie,” propelled by a circular acoustic guitar riff, conveys the complexity of flight best. There’s anticipation and stillness and perhaps even trepidation. But the wonder overwhelms.”

The Rapture didn't come, so I wrote a song about it

Actually, I wrote this song back in 2014 or so, a few raptures ago. I hope you enjoy!

Upcoming gigs (Feb/March)

Hey friends! Sending out a quick copy-and-paste to let you know about some shows I have coming up.

Tonight (Friday Feb 21), I'm playing with Head To The Roots at Flour City Station- day one of the Folky Tonk festival. We play at 6pm.

Sunday, if you've been wanting to catch me with Gabe Stillman, the awesome blues guitarist I've been touring with, we're playing at Fanatics in Lima, 4pm (after Steve Grills and the Roadmasters, who play at 2).

Tuesday, my jazz/funk/soul band Swordfish Collective plays at Lila's (the hotel bar at the Hampton next to the Museum of Play), 5-8pm. Great vibes here, and great food and drink. Gordon Webster on Rhodes keyboard, Ryan Johnson on guitar, Dave Goebel on drums. (Musicians welcome to sit in!)

Saturday March 1st I'm playing tuba with Seth Faergolzia at the South Wedge Mission, for a concert of his instrumental music. It's gonna be really cool! 7pm.

Monday March 3 I start my residency at the Little Cafe- every Monday in March, duos with a different person each week! Week one, my uncle Bernie Heveron will be joining me.

Friday March 14, Einstein's Dreams plays the Lovin Cup. We've been working super hard on the album, and this is gonna be a killer show (plus Hemlock Sun opening for us). If you can only catch one show, make it this one! $10, doors at 6:30.

See you around!
